Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is....
The LOB Newsletter is now (again) The CP Journal
We have some changes to talk about.
When we published our first blog post in 2011, our vision was clear: create an online publication that helped people accomplish a single goal—get left of bang. Alongside some of our beliefs and values, that goal led to the formation of The CP Journal.
Over the past 14 years, that vision began to take shape, which started as a blog and quickly grew into something bigger—expanding into training programs, a newsletter, and a subscriber-driven content hub. Over time, that growth led to a problem: instead of one centralized platform, we ended up with content spread across multiple sites.
This week, we completed our transition process to consolidate our online business into a single platform hosted on Substack. This move allows us to serve our readers, customers, and community better than ever before.
What’s Changing?
Here’s a quick rundown of the updates:
Newsletter Name: The LOB Newsletter is now The CP Journal. Nothing changes in terms of content—especially for free subscribers.
Website Domain: We’ve officially transitioned our old static website to this newsletter on Substack. This shouldn’t affect any existing links, but if you’re curious about the switch, we wrote about it here.
Tactical Analysis Course: Our foundational course on behavioral analysis and observation—the same process outlined in Left of Bang (the book)—is now available to our paying subscribers. Previously, users had to purchase the course separately and then subscribe for continued access to the practice exercises. That never felt right. Now, it’s all in one place with one subscription.
Corporate Clients: For some of our corporate partners, we’re maintaining access to the legacy Academy for the Tactical Analysis Course, if this is you, there will be no changes to how your teams access the course.
If you’re new here and interested in learning how to prepare for an uncertain future, subscribe now.
Why Now?
Two key factors made this the right time to consolidate everything under The CP Journal:
We recently hit a subscriber milestone that we had set to evaluate Substack as a platform, and after analyzing the business case, we confirmed that this was the right move to make.
We're just weeks away from launching a new product designed to help organizations keep their communities left of bang. Rather than adding another site to the mix, we needed to clean up our foundation first so we could make it all part of the same platform.
What This Means for You
For our subscribers, this transition only improves your experience. You'll still receive the same content, insights, and training—but now, it’s all in one place. No more jumping between platforms, no more fragmented access. Just a streamlined way to engage, learn, and stay left of bang.
If you’re already a subscriber—thank you. If you’re new here and looking to prepare for an uncertain future, now is a great time to subscribe and join the community.
We’re excited for what’s ahead. More to come soon.
Thanks for reading, subscribing, and being part of The CP Journal.
